Hi Sandy.
I am so excited by your story, I will be starting my two weeks of liquids on wed.the 6th. of oct . and will have the band put in on the 20th. of oct. I guess I am also scared. I am 63 and I weighed 300 when I saw the doc, for approval . I have managed with great difficulty to loose 8 lbs. I hope the liquids and bars I have to take for two weeks will bring me down some more before surgery.

thank you for your encouragement Terri

p.s. I live in British Columbia Canada, and would love to hear from others in Canada also.

Hello Sandi, This is my first post. I guess it’s time to jump into the pool! I’m not sure about much today- I’m looking for info and buddies in my journey. I’m excited and more than a bit overwhelmed. I have my date to get banded- March 4th. (oh, and I am in B.C. on Vancouver Island,Terri.) I seem to be in a “Limbo place” where I don’t know what to do next. I’m trying to find out about protein shakes. I am a vegetarian, and getting max protein is really important. I’ve never even made a shake! I feel like there is so much to know- Help! Where do I begin? Pamela

Good Morning. I am so happy to have found you and Gloria’s websites. I am scheduled for lap band surgery on March 19th and I have been coming the internet looking for helpful suggestions. I was excited to learn that Gloria is from Lexington, MA as I am only 20 minutes away.

I don’t see a lot of recent comments on your website. I really hope you are still actively blogging and answering emails.

I am very excited about my journey. I will definitely be coming back!

Hi Sandi, I had the lap band surgery on August 6, 2013…it was the best decision I ever made. Reading your story is such an inspiration to me and I wanted to thank you so much for sharing with us all. During your journey did you ever not lose weight? I had a fill last visit, now I am up to 5. I was hungry 2-2 1/2 hours after eating. I am not drinking with meals…and I am using a salad plate and small fork just like you!! Could you please e-mail me and let me know your weight loss history? I sometimes feel like I need another fill because I am not satietied….my stomach growls 2 hours after I eat!! I try drinking, but it doesn’t stop. Is this normal to need another fill this close together? Thank you for taking the time to help.

Stephanie – you are certainly working your band…following rules and paying attention to your body signals. good for you! My question would be- what was it you ate? How many calories, how much protein, and how much sugar? How much water are you getting each day? All of these contribute to your hunger along with whether or not you are at your “sweet spot”? on your fills. too much to answer in any email. why don’t you join in our free support call on thursday 10/17 at 5PM Pacific time and let’s chat…Here’s the link for the dial in instructions:

Hi ya’all. I had my surgery last May and did great for about 6 months. I lost about 70 lbs but than NOTHING! I went for about 6 months being frustrated until my doctor suggested I get a Xray to see if I had a leak. Well I did, that is why all the fill weren’t working and i was always hungry. I just had the surgery on Friday 3/7/14 and going through not eating solids yet. Trying to find things to eat to satisfy. I am going for a fill on March 19, 2014. I am happy the doctor found something but upset that I have to start over again. I do need some motivation and ideas about eating the right protein. My doctor tells me to have protein drinks or make smoothies and than I hear not too. It is so confusing. I also do not like any type of fish and don’t eat alot of meats. If you can help with some ideas of what to eat I would be so grateful.
